Rainfall Reduces Fire Danger – Fire Season Remains in Effect

9-27-2021

Recent rainfall has allowed the Douglas Forest Protective Association to reduce the Fire Danger to LOW and the Industrial Fire Precaution Level to IFPL I on all 1.6 million acres of land within the Douglas District. These changes took effect Monday, September 27th at 10:00 AM.

Under DFPA’s Public Use Restrictions with a fire danger rating of LOW, there are no shutdown times on the mowing of dead grass, non-industrial power saw use, the cutting, grinding, or welding of metal, or the use of other power-driven machinery. Backyard debris burning remains prohibited. All additional fire prevention measures listed in DFPA’s Public Use Restrictions remain in effect and are unchanged.

During Industrial Fire Precaution Level I, industrial operators and other forest workers are required to have fire suppression equipment on site and conduct a fire watch once they are done operating equipment for the day. There are no industrial shutdown times associated with IFPL I.

Fire officials remind that additional fire restrictions or closures may be in place through private industrial landowner or public land management agencies on the lands they own or manage. For more information about DFPA’s public or industrial fire restrictions, visit www.dfpa.net or call DFPA’s information line at 541-672-0379.
